On October 19, Professor Judith Clifton gave the conference entitled ‘Blockchain in public services: consequences of disruptive technologies for citizens, work, and the economy’, organized as part of the EUNICE weeks in which the University of Cantabria participates.
After a brief presentation by Matxalen Llosa, Vice-rector for Internationalization of the University of Cantabria, Professor Judith Clifton presented the use of blockchain technology in public services to more than 120 attendees from the 7 European universities that are part of the EUNICE consortium.
Currently, Professor Judith Clifton leads the team in charge of the socio-economic evaluation of the project ‘Token’ (Transformative Impact Of Blockchain Technologies in Public Services) funded by the European Union. The objective of this program is to develop an experimental ecosystem that allows the adoption of this technology in order to demonstrate its value to achieve the transformation of public services.
Professor Judith Clifton’s conference has allowed to deepen and understand the use of blockchain technology in public services and its wide possibilities. It has been a conference of high interest for the university community and for the general public, which has been reflected in the round of questions after the conference, where the attendees have been able to intervene and ask their doubts.
