Last Friday, September 30, the tenth edition of the European Researchers’ Night was held. As part of our Jean Monnet EUFIREG module, the ‘International Applied Economics and Economic Policy’ Group participated in this event that brought together thousands of people. The Group had the aim of publicizing the lines of research of the University of Cantabria in the field of Applied Economics at this great celebration.
During this day, held simultaneously in more than 350 European cities, a wide range of informative activities aimed at all audiences was offered. The event included a large display of tents in Plaza Pombo (Santander) from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with staging and demonstrations (such as a series of workshops that took place in nearby places).
The group of ‘International Applied Economics and Economic Policy’ explained the importance of using indicators that allow us to analyze the situation of a country or a region, the success of a policy, or the behavior of a consumer. In the activities carried out, they explained how these indicators are used and the need to understand the context (for example, the different characteristics of two countries) to carry out the analysis.
It was a real pleasure to receive hundreds of visits and see the interest aroused. We thank everyone who came to our stand to discover how an economist works and how economists help us to understand the world!
