European Researchers’ Night 2024

As part of the Jean Monnet activities, the members of the Research Group in International Applied Economics and Economic Policy have participated in the European Researchers’ Night, organized by the University of Cantabria.

The European Researchers’ Night is the largest scientific dissemination event in Europe and is held annually across the continent, connecting universities and scientific institutions with the public. It brings research and researchers closer to society as a whole and attracts more than 1.5 million participants each year across Europe. Through accessible formats such as quizzes, games, experiments, debates and other interactive activities, researchers present their work to the general public. The event promotes research projects across Europe, inspires young people to pursue careers in science and research and shows how the work of researchers affects our daily lives.

The Researchers’ Night was held in the Plaza de Pombo in Santander and attracted, despite the rain, hundreds of attendees. Members of the Jean Monnet team designed a series of maps of Europe, using color-coded zones to mark different regions. The participants had to play a game in which they were asked different questions about regions in Europe. Some of the questions addressed issues related to vulnerability to climate change and the Green Transition, which allowed participants to learn about the work on the subject that researchers are carrying out as part of the European GreenPaths project.
