Professors Judith Clifton, Daniel Díaz Fuentes and Marcos Fernández have participated in the first edition of the Olympiad on the European Union in Cantabria, which took place at the Faculty of Economics and Business of our University.
Thirty-five students from seven secondary schools in Cantabria participated in the Olympiad: IES Villajunco, IES Cantabria, IES Leonardo Torres Quevedo- Santander, Colegio Ntra. Sra. de La Paz – Torrelavega, IES Valle de Camargo, IES El Astillero and IES Ricardo Bernardo.
The event included a round table on the environmental sustainability of the EU in which professors Judith Clifton and Daniel Díaz Fuentes participated, together with Beatriz Cárcamo, European projects technician of the Government of Cantabria. The test was then held, in whose organization and supervision professor Marcos Fernández participated.
The European Union Olympiad was organised by the association Team Europe, in collaboration with the team of the European University Alliance EUNICE at the University of Cantabria. The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of the University, Conchi López, and the Minister of Economy, Finance, Regional Financing and European Funds of the Government of Cantabria, Luis Ángel Agüeros.
The students from the centre that won the regional phase of the Olympiad will attend the national final, which will be held in April in Asturias.
