On November 6, 2025, the GreenPaths project team participated in the Environmental Futures Seminar Series organized by the Institute for Environmental Futures (IEF) at the University of Leicester (United Kingdom).
The session, titled “GreenPaths Project,” featured presentations by Professor Judith Clifton Walker and Professor Danial Díaz, who shared the progress of their research on the green transition and its territorial justice dimension.
In their presentation, they addressed the role of the European Investment Bank (EIB) as a key player in the implementation of the European Green Deal, mobilizing €1 trillion over a decade for sustainable investments. The regional analysis conducted by the team reveals that large cities, as early adopters, tend to attract more climate finance per capita than less urbanized regions, which poses challenges in ensuring a truly “just” transition.
The conference also included preliminary results from 15 multisectoral and transnational case studies, which delve into the question: Is the green transition also a just transition?
